In art history, the female often plays the role of being seen. With the effort of predecessors, though the social value yet not completely releases the female from tradition and patriarchy, the system and gender roles nowadays are more friendly and equal. The author stuck in the frame of being a female in the growing stage, just as many females who were judged by values. The pressure makes her confused and anxious. It seems that the rest of the personal value is meaningless without meeting the "female expectations of society". Not until the author reads the interpretations of feminism does she realize the values of her experiences. For the author, making artworks is a direct and honest way to face herself. In this paper, the author aims at proposing a female sample, starting from a gender view and reacquaint herself through artworks.
There are five chapters in the paper. The first chapter is the research motivation, goal, context and methodologies. The author depicts the confusion and difficulties caused by gender in the growing stage by adapting psychosocial developmental theory by Erikson as the references of self-identity. In the second chapter, The identity path of the artists and their works, the author arranges females artists dealt with relevant issues as the academic base and theory. By analyzing the differences of female artists, the author comes up with problematics of her artworks and sort out the context of identity. The third chapter is about the choices of medium and form, personal aesthetic experience, and how to adapt these in artworks. The fourth chapter is the artist statement, which the author analyzes the content and meaning of her artworks. In the last chapter, conclusion, is the analysis and future expectation toward the research result.
