The work , Different Words in The Same Body , is a digital performance art work, employing interactive sound programs, images and videos, monologues and the performer's body parts to exhibit the probing of and dialogue with self. This piece contains the experimental concept of visual arts and the spacial images of performance arts. Therefore, there is the probing of the 20th century art styles and concepts such as Futurism, Dadaism, Bauhaus, Happening Art and Fluxus . Then, there is the probing of the media used in traditional stage plays and the concept and method of contemporary digital performance art. Lastly, there is the probing of depression with a simple general description and related works.
The work is based on the author’s personal life, probing human’s emotional struggles when facing the darkest part of themselves through self exploration and dialogue with self. It also shows the artist's own experience with depression and the emotional transformation. Furthermore, this paper discusses the meaning of the work, the images, the sounds and the design of the performer's body separately with regards to the artist's creative concept. It also explains the creative method and the software program used to create the work. The last part of the paper focuses in details on creative elements like abandoned sets, presentation of characters in the form of images, sounds, the symbolic meaning of water and the design of the performer's bodily movements. It attempts to make the audience reflect on what they value in life and cherish their own lives.
