In more recent years, with the development of computer hardware and graphics technology, virtual actors are able to make to look more and more real. These virtual actors can now replace live actors and aid in filming processes that are of a high difficulty and risk, effectively reducing the number of accidents. With this in mind, it is clear that the application of virtual actors to film can be used to make film shoots more efficient and safe. Currently, almost all of the high-cost production VFX films come from Hollywood, and these films often require the collaborations of several companies and professional teams to complete production. Independent filmmakers, on the other hand, do not possess nearly the same amount of resources to produce VFX films of a similar quality. The author of this study hopes to examine how the application of virtual actors in match-moving films can assist with some of the constraints that come alongside low-cost independent productions, by presenting his own filmmaking process and use of technology for reference.
