《flying to reach the light》is the first music to combine the represent instrument with Chinese and Western percussion and link with other elements, including body movement. This is exactly the motivation what the author wants to explore in 《flying to reach the light》

This article uses research methods such as interview authors, searching extensive literature, and analyzing music and music interpretation. The whole song is divided into three sections in total and three performance sections on the stage. The first and second sections are based on Chinese and Western percussion instruments, using Chinese percussion techniques and rhythms and other theme motivation combinations.

When it comes to the third part, the Chinese and Western percussion instruments will be played together to give full play to the Chinese and Western melody instruments' performance characteristics so that the music has a richer timbre effect. Representative instruments are Chinese percussion instruments: Paigu, Flowerpot drum, Bianzhong, Yunluo, Stand drum, and western percussion instruments: Marimba, Bass Drum, Tom-tom.

Research and analysis show that the appropriate percussion mallet material should be selected following the playing method in《flying to reach the light》, which is used to interpret the music for playing both Chinese and Western percussion instruments, and compare to commonly percussion notation, find out one notation which author think is better, to provide for the future performers and composer to refer and propose the knowledge and literacy which playing Percussion concerto need to have.
