Although painting has been declared dead more than once in the past, it still appears in the diverse and complicated world of contemporary art, and it is also the medium I take heed on and use. As time went on, a different concept grew in my mind during my study at the college. The normal education system prompted me to not only reflect on my use of medium but also turn to the non-easel, mixed media works. However, this change further resulted in other issues for me: Do the strategies the artists apply to create mixed media art originate from their past experience in painting, and that painting and mixed media art connect with each other like the covalent bonds of compounds? Or do they link with each other via umbilical cord, and one of them is nourishing the other? Through my practice, exploration, and analysis on historical events and related artworks, I discovered these steps. First, remove the visions on the retina to make a painting a neutral medium, which also suggests the demolition of the physicality of paintings. Secondly, target the painting processes to analyse the body movement involved in the creation of paintings. In this step, I would also look into the labour of creating. Lastly, rearrange different elements, which have been previously dissected, of paintings to construct a new painting model and paradigm in the site.
