Abstract

“Chi, Chung -Hsin’s Face Threading Life” is a broadcasting report which combines the record of actual events and the refined folk culture. The main character, Chi, Chung-Hsin, used to be a big shot of the video games manufacture for more than ten years. Striking by the change of governmental rules, he faced his career crisis. During the most miserable time in his life, face treading, the ancient Chinese beauty skill, motivates him to restart his career. It’s really not easy for a man to engage in the face threading which is supposed to be women’s job. However by his acuminous observation of the social trends, he improves the face threading skills and thus interests the young generation. Seven years later, he expands his career from a street stand to many branches and even more he is trying to hit the market abroad.

The reason why we would like to present his story is that we would like to present the struggling of a used-to-be big shot who earned two million dollars a month, with body guards around lowed his dignity sitting at a stool on the street earning the trifles by face threading.

We do hope that the film can be a life-education teaching material for those who feel frustrated about their life career to help them stand on their feet again. And, of course, we do hope that the successful example of Chi, Chung -Hsin’s can provide creative ideas for those who are trying to save the shrinking folk culture.
