Thousands of years since the Tang dynasty, " The Song Of Pipa" written by the Ju-Yi Bai from the Tang Dynasty is regarded as a classic Chinese literature. Especially, it is the bible in the field of poetry music. In the "The Song Of Pipa", the masterly depiction of music made people delight in talking about it, and the deep emotional side of the story also moved millions of poetry reader.

After the ended of the Great Cultural Revolution（1966-1976）, literary and artistic creation still wasn't getting out of the shadows of turmoil. There was a person, Xiao-Feng Zhang who was thinking about how to break a new path for Chinese traditional music. Because of his strong literary foundation, Xiao-Feng Zhang decided to take advantage of the familiar and love of literature by people. He used with the Tang poem,” Song Of The Pipa”, to create music. After the concept was put forward but was opposition by the leader. Xiao-Feng Zhang who is a great composer with passion and courage, still finished the pipa concertino,”The Song Of Pipa”, under secrecy which became the role of head for Chinese traditional music of that generation.

It’s gotten majority response after the music, “The Song Of Pipa” had been published. The field of Chinese Traditional music said it is “the first song after the Great Cultural Revolution with the directional creation of folk music boutique.” Together with the other two songs that composed by the poem of Li Bai and Du Fu, are collectively called "music of Tang Poetry."

“The Song Of Pipa” was orchestrated by artistic conception and passages of the original poem, and the music section titles were named from the sentence of the poem. The cleverly musical language hidden in beautiful melodies, as if intoning a poem. The whole song is appropriate to create a mood of the scene, made express deep inner feelings and clear character theme tune and distinct character of every role.

In this thesis, by analyzing the music, interpret of original intent, and list the song implied literary characteristics, the purpose is not only to perform in the appropriate and heartfelt interpretation, but also hope the results of this study can contribute research and Pipa performance.
