Architectures are places where we live and where memory connection are created. They are extensions of human’s body, emotion, and will. The aesthetic nutrients acquired through the field of architecture in the past years has accumulated as a large database of images in my brain. Even though I have left architecture career, I remain great passion about creating spaces and light and shadow. Creating architectural ceramic pieces through dealing the medium characteristic provides a great approach to embody the imaginary landscapes in my mind. This has a further significance of fulfilling an unfinished business of mine.
”Place of Serenity” is ceramic art themed with architecture, containing composition of space, play of light and shadow and presentation of ceramic textural quality. Forms of space are mostly fusions of realistic places from city streets and imaginary sceneries that came into my mind. The simplicity of shape and the beauty of rational balance are what I attempt to present. "Architectural elements" are used as metaphors: Passageways, stairways and squares indicate vertical, horizontal exercise, while openings imply the existence of internal space. While trying to evoke viewer's imagination, it also reveals a poetic world loaded with order, serenity and mystery.
