This thesis is to study how to create interactive art work based on a design methodology, through the steps as below: 1. Finding the object which means a lot to me as an "evocative object". 2. Translating the story and finding the emotion value behind the evocative object. 3. Combining animation and installation to present the scene of the story behind. 4. Inviting the audiences to interact with it, to evoke their feedback to my narrative. I present three art works which follow the steps in this thesis. By the theme of the thesis and the methodology, I gave the related references study in the thesis.
In “The Aging Place”, I used the cabinet from my grandfather as evocative object. Using the combination between LCD screen and cabinet's window, I presented a metaphor about the lacking of power when people aging.
“Momento” uses a slide viewer from my mother when she studied PhD program. Using incoherent animation shots, the equipments and books and other stuff displayed on the desk, it hints thea memory about my mother that I could barely recall from my childhood.
“Friday Morning when Daniele Seems Dead” uses an old door to present a story about an old lady Daniele who might pass away in her own room but no one noticed. I waited in front of the door to see the result before our landlady came, and imagine what happened inside during that time. I transformed the imagination into animation and whisper to show a story by black humor form.
Besides the description and discussion about three artwork projects, I also discuss about future work for my artworks.
