The purpose of this thesis is to discuss Mozart piano sonata in D major, KV.576. From the point of view of a learner, analysis and discuss the interpretation of several modern pianists, to find the right way of interpreting classical Mozart’s style.

It includes five chapters: the first chapter describes the style of Mozart’s last four piano sonatas and the evolution of sonata form from classical to Mozart’s time. The second chapter analyzes the compositional techniques of structure, harmony, melody and rhythm. The third chapter is the interpretations, give the performing suggestion about the speed, articulation, dynamics, touch, timbre, harmony, ornaments and pedal. The fourth chapter is to compare five contemporary pianists’ recording. The fifth chapter is the conclusion, summarize each parts of discussion.
