Humanity comes from nature. It’s hard to describe how close it is between humanity and nature in words. Many of the art crafts are made from the elements of our natural world. My memory of childhood is filled with the nature, such as flowers, trees, grass, and butterflies. It brings me happiness to look back on the days when I was playing with my friends in nature. We were surrounded by the fantastic scenery and I was touched and inspired by the beauty of nature. That’s why nature was playing an important role in my childhood. Moreover, the fairy tales I knew from childhood showed me a fantastic vision of wonderland. As a result, I want to combine the natural elements and the image of fairy tales in my ceramic art.
My dissertation contains the exploring of my memory. The touched feeling from childhood and fairytale dreams will be represented in my ceramic works. Clay has the feature of plasticity which attracts me deeply. Therefore, I want to use clay to create my art works. Owing to my strong feeling about nature, you may see that many symbols of natural elements, like flowers and butterflies, appear in my art works.
