Abstract

《On The Air》

The skipped-generation families has been one of the concerning issues in the society. Different from the ordinary parental families which are usually a intimate group, there are lots of differences and misunderstanding between grandparents and grandchildren. But for this reason, it also augments stronger passionate emotions.

"On the Air" was inspired by the author's growing up experience. Despite the disparity in ages for 70 years, the grandchild and their grandparents look after each other. The unsophisticated teenagers receive love from their grandparents, a different kind of love from their parents. No matter how large the gap is between the generations, they try hard to take care of each other in their own way.

Among the films regarding the skipped-generation families in Taiwan, most of them are focusing on their difficult living. The issue is serious, but in this film, I would like to discuss it with a positive attitude. This film portrays the grandmother and the grandson’s living in a realistic way. The realism cinema do not only present the real world that we live, but also pay attention to humanistic concern. As a filmmaker, I hope I could make contribution to the society by my works.
