This study takes the traditional architectural elements of Taiwan as the theme, and at the same time I used pottery clay as a material to conduct this creative research.
The content is divided into three series, including "living room", "bedroom" and "bathroom". While describing much traditional architecture that has meaningful histories and cultures of Taiwan, the work also expects to draw more attention to the preservation of monuments. How to make creations to be cherished as heritage assets is the motivation and purpose of this investigation.
In the study, through the literature review to explore the time tunnels of ancient buildings that illustrate the evolution of Taiwan's architectural history, and take construction of contemporary art as example to be the creative theory of the study. For the series of works, I mainly use excellent soil with its plasticity, nature, simplicity, life-like characteristics, and then shape with hands and hearts. These works use the past traditional architectural elements such as bricks and tiles, and show in the modern ceramic art creations. Rearrange and present 21st century’s visual of the “home” which is not only a space for life, but also a performance of the memory of life, and domain of personal attributes and power.
In the works, the writer also uses a repetitive pure expression, which makes the ceramic art works bring people a feeling of warm and life. I hope that the elements of traditional architecture of Taiwan will come out from the corner of the history and become part of modern life. It can approach modern life, and implement the appreciation of traditional cultural relics in action, and arouse people's connection with antique artifacts.
