Urbanization has long been a trend in evolving history of humans. Taiwan has experienced multiple structural changes in its history, which it is filled with an atmosphere of highly prevalent awareness of civil rights, and its historical relations that are worth consideration for. The Songshan Tobacco Factory area located in the east district of Taipei City has spanned Japan-ruled, post-war period and is located with history. Such a special feature, coupled with its condition of rich ecosystems has undoubtedly made it one of the best witness of the development of the Taipei City.

A variety of issues in the Songshan Tobacco Factory area, such as historical buildings, the natural ecosystem and life space, has made it under the media spotlight in recent years. This paper will come up with (illustrations) and studies the subject of the plantation in the Songshan Tobacco Factory area, hoping that this paper can provide alternative imagination for such a forest and oasis in the urban for citizens to take a short break, and I hope that historical site will be regenerated.

This paper is divided into two parts: literal review and illustrations. For the part of literature view, I will use the induction approach to summarize the principles of surrealism. The study scope mainly focuses on the works of art by several painters such as Max Ernst (April 2, 1891 –April 1, 1976) and Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte(November 21 , 1898–

August 15, 1967). I will review the literature and available data to explore this subject based on the method of induction and integrative analysis. As for the part of illustrations, the subject will be the Baroque-styled court yard garden hidden in the Songshan Tobacco Factory and various plants in the garden. With the surrealist approach, I will use metaphor, sarcastic humor, or illusion, and integrate the images of plants with the biodiversity and vitality and the buildings of Songshan Tobacco Factory area and represent those in my work of illustrations.

My illustrations in this paper is designed to shape an image of Songshan Tobacco Factory area alternative to the past one. For the skill of illustrations, I will use strong visual pictures and seek to depict a different picture of this cultural and creative industry base on northern Taiwan --- the Songshan Tobacco Factory area. I hope that my final work can make more and more citizens gain better understandings of the cultural traits of Taipei and the natural ecosystems of the place. Further, I also hope that my final work will arouse the most wonderful memories of the past, and reflect on the current dilemma of co-existence issue facing the Songshan Tobacco Factory area and the meanings of the legacy of the history and culture. I also hope that in the future, artistic works will be embodied in the cultural and creative products, therefore we can leave the record of the Songshan Tobacco Factory area in transition and open the possibility of the marketing of local culture.
