The topic of this creation research is “Image of Nature – the Creation Disclosure of Wei-Ming Chen”. This study is to discuss the abstract unshaped structure and the spirituality of author in the field of abstract expressionism. Through the experience of self-learning, the author aims to simplify and analyze the concrete material world, also by multiple views of angles and repeated elements, to create a series of art works “Image of Nature” for building personal creation art work language.
The art works were developed into three fields. The first field illustrates the feeling of natural transforming into the form of painting by author. The art work keeps the first three layers of base color remained in an approximate and dedicated way and decorated by the thick paintings with color and brightness contrast to bring out the topic. The second field combines the unformed natures and author's chaotic emotions, as the art works are filled with scattering leaves, symbolizing author’s chaotic mind. And the uncertain and unstable visual effects imply the subconscious mind status of the worry of author’s mother in illness. The third field by introducing geometric abstract and using the fundamental elements as horizonal, vertical and slash forms, aims to create deep, shallow, flat visual illusions among painting planar spaces, in order to realize the presentation of modern art painting space and explore the spirituality of abstract art.
The thesis contains five chapters. The first chapter “Introduction” illustrates the motivation, method of study, scope and purpose. The second chapter is the organization and collection of literature review based on theory fundamental. The third chapter explains the creation concepts and illustrations of creation forms. The fourth chapter contains the experience of author’s creation practices and the work appreciation of the series “Image of Nature”. The fifth chapter is the conclusion of this research, and the continuousness and expectation of the future creation.
