The awareness of corporeality is a kind of complicated experiences which link to many different aspects, including the daily-life experiences and habits both on the instant and from the past. Whitehead said the awareness of corporeality has causal effects with our daily-life experiences and habits and they are closely connected and inseparable. The Quantity is one of an important concept in the theory “Body without Organs.” Gilles Louis René Deleuze( 1925-1995) asked that if human beings can sense things with only the energy form instead of using emotions to interpret them. When we receive the energy form as a signal and use our knowledge to interpret it, the original status will change, and, this kind of change will create an uncertain and instable space.
The author thinks that an installation must have this kind of “uncertainty” to discuss/against its “uncertainty.” And the technique of expression is to amplify the daily-life elements from natural world, which creates an “different spaces” that is different from our daily-life experiences.
Using electric shock stick which is used to be a protective weapon and to subdue criminals by police officers in the works “Static Position” and “Pleasure to enlarge” is a kind of controlling code of aggressive authority. When the audiences come into the place of an installation set in a dark space, their entering will make sounds and light from the high-voltage electric arc. These sounds and light arouse a magnified the excitement of being scared. This process breaks the organization of body without organs instantaneously, and then, experiences the dispersing state of void and separation after the end of electric arc.
And the work “Regeneration Movement” uses many CD-ROM drives that keep opening and withdrawing. They look like inorganic but actually they are linked to the Internet and they are saving the transit information from it. People express their desire by on the Internet and their desire give feedback with the movement of CD-ROM drives in this work. Like “massaging” the audiences, this work responds to a famous quote from Marshall McLuhan, “The Medium is the Massage (Message).” At the same time, it also implies a criticism to how the modern society works like machine.
I hope to create an intensive and special body experience and inspire a new way of sensation that repeatedly make up the feelings different from daily-life experiences and, finally, make the audiences pound on the relationship between themselves and the frame or form of their nations which is like a giant body of creature.
