Mother Nature is always filling the world with infinite life force; it is comprehensive, magnificent, exquisite, profound and wonderful. Through close observation and deep appreciation, artists can easily find wisdom and inspiration in nature where every creature, even if it is just a leaf or a blade of grass, emanates divinity and evolves in perfect symbiosis.

Time and space is not a problem during the creative process of art production. When I decide that I believe in the existence of the inner self and am willing to connect with it and to let it play a role in my life, I start to create artworks where realistic objects are placed within surreal contexts by freeing my subconscious and tuning in my intuition.

There are five chapters in this paper. Chapter 1 outlines the motives, objectives, methods and content of the study. Chapter 2 probes into Eastern and Western spiritual psychology with an emphasis on the discussion about Zen and meditation and how it calms your mind and allows you to hear your inner voice, as well as the influences Eastern and Western artists have on my works. Chapter 3 introduces the concept of “realistic objects within surreal contexts” and explores the possibility of works that combine the unreal with the real and feature the juxtaposition of uncommon imagery as the manifestation of my inner voice. I discover that only when I bravely overcome the limitation of traditional ideas, openly pursue the art my heart longs for, freely create my works without thinking too much, and genuinely believe in my own theories and principles, can I truly have a beautiful life, beautiful mind, and beautiful soul. Chapter 4 analyzes the concepts and techniques in the 21 paintings that I have grouped into three collections: Wonderland, Heartland and Transland, and examines the thoughts, emotions and meanings behind the images, symbols and forms of each work that incorporates my personal feelings, experiences and the impact the artists I admire have on my art. Chapter 5 summarizes the topic “realistic objects within surreal contexts” and expresses the hope that it will resonate among many.
